What patients say

We Help Women and They Love us For it

Every one of these was written by a patient on the clinic's own Google Business Profile. Nothing here is written by us.

  • Fast, friendly, and I got what I wanted. The staff were nice and the service was fast.

  • Went above and beyond to help, and in my opinion sometimes it's this that makes all the difference.

Why discipline keeps losing

Appetite is a signal, not a character test.

Hunger and fullness are regulated by hormones. They decide how strong the pull toward food is and how quickly you feel satisfied, and they don't consult you about it. When those signals push hard, the problem was never the size of your salad or the strength of your resolve.

  • Willpower is a finite thing. It is spent by the end of a working day. A hormone signal isn't. It runs at 4pm and at 10pm alike, which is why evenings are where most plans come apart.
  • Restriction pushes back. Eating less turns hunger signalling up rather than down. That's the loop where the weight comes back, and it's physiology rather than failure.
  • Bodies change; the advice didn't. Hormonal shifts alter where weight sits and how easily it moves. The plan that worked a decade ago is being asked to do a different job now.
  • So the question worth asking is clinical. Not whether you tried hard enough. You already know that answer. It's whether a prescriber assessing you properly finds something treatable.

How you're assessed

Weight & Analysed In Clinic

Most weight-management services now run entirely through an online form. You enter your own height and weight, upload a photo, and someone you'll never speak to reviews it. Our consultation happens in a room on Whatley Road with the prescriber who will be responsible for your care.

Bristol Independent Clinic

In person, at Whiteladies Pharmacy

  • Weighed and measured on the clinic's own scales
  • Assessed face to face by a named Independent Prescriber
  • Same prescriber reviews you at every stage
  • Questions answered in the room, and a phone number that reaches us
  • Nothing to start and nothing to cancel. You simply book, or you don't
  • Told honestly, and free of charge, if it isn't clinically appropriate

A typical online service

Form, photo, delivery

  • Height and weight self-entered, sometimes verified by photo
  • Reviewed remotely by a prescriber you don't meet
  • Different clinician each time, if any
  • Support by chat or email, inside opening hours
  • Monthly subscription that continues until you cancel it
  • Assessment done on what the form was told

This isn't a marketing preference. GPhC standards require a prescriber to independently verify weight, height and BMI rather than rely on a questionnaire alone, and the GPhC's April 2026 review of weight-management services found online pharmacies accounted for nearly half of all concerns raised. Being weighed in the room is simply the standard being met.

Who the consultation suits

Worth booking if this sounds like you.

The free consultation exists to find out whether treatment is clinically appropriate. Plenty of people leave it having been told it isn't, and that's a legitimate outcome. You'll have an answer from a prescriber rather than from an advert.

BMI of 30 or above

Or 27 and above alongside a weight-related health condition. If you're unsure of your figure, we'll work it out at the appointment.

Aged 18 to 75

Treatment is assessed individually, and your medical history and current medicines are reviewed as part of it.

Diet and exercise haven't held

You've lost weight before and found it returned. That history is clinically relevant, not something to apologise for.

Hunger is the hard part

Constant appetite and cravings you can't reason your way out of are worth describing to a prescriber.

You want it supervised

Assessed, prescribed and reviewed by the same clinician, with someone to ring if something doesn't feel right.

You'd rather be seen in person

A clinic you can walk into on Whatley Road, ten minutes from Clifton, with free parking nearby.

Who you'll see

Two pharmacists. Both Independent Prescribers. Both named.

Every appointment is handled by a qualified clinical pharmacist and never delegated. You can check both registrations on the GPhC register before you book.

Luke Crampsey

Clinical Pharmacist · Independent Prescriber

Practising since 2009, across community pharmacy, NHS services and private healthcare. Patients describe a calm, practical approach.

Marius Stoian

Clinical Pharmacist · Independent Prescriber

A pharmacist since 2006, with broad NHS and private healthcare experience. Clear explanations and care tailored to the person in front of him.

What actually happens

Three steps, and you can stop at any of them.

The consultation is free and carries no obligation. Same-day appointments are usually available, with as little as two hours' notice.

01

Book a time that suits

Pick a slot online in under a minute, or ring the clinic and we'll find one with you. Evenings and Saturday mornings included.

02

Come in and be assessed

Around 30 minutes with an Independent Prescriber. Weighed and measured here, then your history, current medicines and goals are talked through properly.

03

Get a straight answer

You're told whether treatment is clinically appropriate, what it would involve and what it would cost, before you decide anything. No pressure either way.

What it costs

The consultation is free. Properly free.

Not a deposit, not redeemable against something, not a sales appointment with a different name. If treatment turns out to be suitable, your prescriber gives you the full monthly cost in the room, before you commit to anything.

  • No subscription. Nothing recurring is set up, so there is nothing to remember to cancel later.
  • No lock-in. You stop by not booking again. No notice period, no exit call, no retention offer.
  • No charge to be told no. If you aren't suitable you pay nothing and you leave knowing where you stand.
  • Cost explained before you decide. Treatment is dose-based, so your prescriber talks you through what it means for you rather than quoting a headline figure.

The questions people actually have

Straight answers, before you book.

Anything not covered here, call 0117 428 9900 and ask a pharmacist directly.

No. A hormone signal driving appetite is a physiological problem, and treating a physiological problem with clinical care is what medicine is for. Nobody calls managing blood pressure a shortcut. Treatment also does not do the work on its own. Diet, activity and habit are part of every plan we put together, and your prescriber will be candid with you about that.
